今年も花摘み会のワークショップ、最後はやっぱり『魔女のお茶会』で〆です。
如月マミー(@neutral_aromaproduce)先生と赤坂真里(@chez_kumari)先生。このお二人の魔女さんが醸し出す独特の空気が、スイートピーの華やいだ香り漂う農園の空気と相まって、不思議なエネルギーを放ちます。多彩な香りとスイーツの甘さ、そして二人の言葉が、あたかも日常で積もった心の埃をスッと溶かしてくれるように、ゆっくり機能し始めます。
実は最近までお二人ともちょっとした事件の中にいました。マミー先生はコロナ感染により、犬並みの鋭い嗅覚を麻痺させられ、とても辛い思いをされていましたし、真里先生はお気に入りのクラシックミニが走行中にタイヤが外れて、あわや大事故になるところだったし。
幸いマミー先生は通院治療の甲斐もあって、嗅覚が常人以上にまで戻って来ました(とはいえ、犬並みの能力までにはもう少しかかるそう)。真里先生はけが人もなく、愛車もなんとか修理可能だということで、整備工場で部品を待って修理中です。
でも二人とも、そんなことはちっとも感じさせない。やりたいことに全力投球、ストレートに慢心されてます。
真里先生のシェ・クマリのお菓子は、常に進化しているんです。採算度外視で、材料が通常ではありえないくらい高級品だったり、通常かなり手間のかかる行程でも、さらに手間を惜しまずかけて完璧にバランスさせたりと、本当に美味しいものを提供したいという思いに満ちています。さらに美味しくしたいと日々研鑚を積んでるから、いつも睡眠時間がなくなったり、立ちっ放しで足がパンパンにむくんだり。これはもう愛なのだと思うんです。
お店のクマさんに、愛車のジョニーに、そしてお菓子の一品一品に。いろんなことに彼女のそうした愛が注がれています。それがシェ・クマリ。
一方、マミー先生は嗅覚を失った時、そのまま回復がなければ廃業も覚悟していたようです。今は回復して、すっかり常人以上に戻ったのですが、以前の能力まで完全に戻すために、病院でいくら検査しても、ドクターに
「すまないが、あなたはすでに常人以上の値で、これ以上何もできないし、全く問題ありません」
と言われてしまったと笑って話してくださいました。この日も、常人では全く分らなくなるような複雑な香りを、数十本のアロマを自在に操り、参加者の希望を考えて、的確にアドバイスされていました。
「一度全て失ってしまったからこそ、それが戻って来た時、世界が輝くような香りに満ちているように感じたんです。一度失ってみたことも良い経験でした」
そんなことをおっしゃっていました。
この日も世に一つしかない香りが無数に生み出されていました。参加者さんたちの真剣な目と、楽しそうな笑い声と、弾けそうな笑顔が、その本質を物語っています。『魔女のお茶会』って、やっぱり愛という魔法がかかる場所。

Witch’s Tea Party
‘The Pick Your Own 2023’ finished with the ‘Witch’s Tea Party’ as in other years.
Kisaragi Mummy (@neutral_aromaproduce) and Akasaka Mari (@chez_kumari). These two unique witches give off a mysterious energy, combined with the air of the farm with the flowery fragrance of sweet peas. The various aromas, the sweets and their words slowly begin to heal as if they are melting away the dust in your mind that has been laid in usual.
In fact, until recently, both of her were in a bit of an accident. Mammy had a coronary infection and her excellent sense of smell like a dog was seriously hurt, and she had been very upset. Mari nearly had a big traffic accident as her favourite classic Mini lost a tyre while she was driving.
Fortunately, Mammy’s sense of smell has recovered better than that of a normal person, because of the hospital treatment (although it will take a little longer until she get the complete sharpest smell as a dog). Mari wasn’t injured at all and her car is now in the repair shop waiting for some parts.
Either of them never seem to be unhappy about such accidents at all. They are straight and engrossed in what they want to do.
Chez Kumari are always evolving by Mari. She is striving to supply true delicious sweets. They are even tastier made with higher class materials, and by the better cooking ways that is why she lose all sleep time and get foot swollen from standing very long time. I think this is surely love.
To her bears in the shop, to her car Johnny, and to every single piece of cakes. She pours a lot of love into many things. That is Chez Kumari.
On the other hand, when Mammy lost her sense of smell, she was almost decided to close her business if she wouldn’t recover as she wants. Now she has recovered and is fully back to more than normal, but no matter how many tests she had gotten, so that she wants to fully return to her previous excellent abilities, the doctor told her one day.
‘I’m sorry, but you are already over the normal level and there is nothing more I can do for you, and you are fine for now.”
She laughed and told us. On this day, she was also giving precise advice on complex scents that ordinary people couldn’t recognise at all, freely controlling many aromas and considering the wishes of the participants.
“Once I lost all, I could notice the world is filled with a glorious fragrance. Losing it once rather became a precious experience.” She said.
On this day, she created many fragrances. The serious eyes, joyful laughter and smiles burst out of their faces told the essence. ‘The Witches’ Tea Party’ is a place where the magic of love is spelled.
